About the show
Set in a not-so-distant dystopian future where a devastating water shortage has outlawed private bathrooms, ordinary citizens are forced to pay steep fees to use corporately controlled public toilets. After decades of exploitation and oppression, the people finally rise up to challenge the system.
Winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, Urinetown is a razor-sharp political satire that, through outrageous humor, skewers not only politics, populism, and authoritarianism but also musical theatre itself.
