Get ready to sharpen your pencils and your skills as you join us for daily plawriting workshops taught by two exciting guest artists! Actress, director, and playwright, Joyce Sylvester joins us from New York City-based theater company, The Negro Ensemble Company, specializing in church plays! Professor Cedric Rembert adds vim, vigor, and vitality to the workshop, joining us from Claflin University in South Carolina!

Looking to get a better understanding of the audition process? Come be a part of the Acting Auditions Workshops with Guest Artist Robert Greene, an off-Broadway actor having a recurring role as Mandela! In these workshops, you’ll learn different techniques for successful auditions for roles in television, films, and commercials. Join us as Robert Greene teaches tips on obtaining and tackling your audition pieces!

Looking to learn how to obtain auditions for TV, Movies, and Commercials? Join us as New York Agent, and mother of Donald Faison (T-Moble Commercial, Scrubs) Shirley Faison teaches actors how to obtain and build their careers using the internet. These workshops will be held at both the Youngstown Playhouse and the McGuffey Centre. With your audition pieces, you’ll learn how to get the internet to work for you in obtaining TV, Film, and Commercial jobs!

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE STAGE PERFORMANCE

Beginner/Intermediate Stage Performance class serves students who are new to the art of theatre! We help answer the basic question, “what is theatre?” Learn stage movement, improvisation, pantomiming, audition techniques, theatre tech, and more. Your student will participate in a final performance at the end of the session and walk away being bitten by the “theatre bug!”

Get in the Halloween spirit by learning how to create high quality props that are “scary” cool! Your student will learn how to work with resin, create illusions, and become skilled in the crafty art of prop building.

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

Join Associate Professor of Theatre at Kent State Trumbull, Eric Kildow, in learning the basics of the classic Alexander Technique. He is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and teaches private lessons in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Alexander Technique helps performers prepare physically and mentally for their roles through a range of relaxation techniques and other physical and breathing exercises to produce a more natural performance.

Calling all the monsters! Join us in this one day workshop to learn how to create your scariest SFX monster make up. Your student will learn how to design and apply the scariest face of them all!
