THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE SEEKING ALUMNI FOR 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Youngstown, OH (September 28, 2022): The Youngstown Playhouse will be celebrating its 100th anniversary as one of the longest continually running community theaters in the United States with its 2024/2025 Season. The Playhouse Archive Committee is locating former actors, technicians, office personnel, board members, volunteers, Youth Theater participants, and anyone who worked or volunteered at The Youngstown Playhouse in the last 100 years of production.

There will be a gala celebration year that will bring theatre alumni back to Youngstown to celebrate past participation which helped to make the Playhouse’s success possible.

The foundations of The Youngstown Playhouse were established in 1924 with the theater being formally incorporated as The Youngstown Players in 1927. The theater has served as one of the most prolific and successful theaters in the U.S. for almost 100 years. It served as the starting point for such well-known celebrities as Joe Flynn (ABC’s sitcom. McHale’s Navy), Ed O’Neill (Fox’s Married…With Children, and numerous films), Elizabeth “Biff” Hartman (starring with Sidney Poitier in A Patch of Blue and other films), Michael J. Moritz, Jr. (Broadway Producer), and Billy Saluga (actor/comedian) among others.
