Youngstown, OH (May 9, 2022): The Youngstown Playhouse is excited to announce its Summer Theatre Intensives and Masterclasses. The educational classes will take place at The Youngstown Playhouse. The classes being offered are:

Reader’s Theatre, June 13-17
5 to 8 years old
Kids will “perform” by reading scripts created from grade-level books and stories then act them out with costumes and quirky characters.
Stage Performance Act I, June 13-17
9 to 12 years old
Students will rehearse and perform scenes from famous plays like The 39 Steps and Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Stage Performance Act II, June 13-17
13 to 17 years old
Students will rehearse and perform scenes and monologues from famous plays like The Play That Goes Wrong and Macbeth.

9 to 12 years old
Students will create silly sketches and learn to write their own jokes.

Learn what it takes to get a laugh from the audience by learning the art of comedy through writing and performing your own jokes and silly sketches.
Broadway Bootcamp, June 27-July 1
9 to 12 years old
Students will train for one week to become triple-threat performers in singing, dancing, and acting with songs from the musical All Shook Up.
Masterclass: Music Theory: How to Read Music, June 12

Strengthen your singing skills by better understanding music theory, how to read rhythm, and feel more confident sight reading music.
Masterclass: Stand Up Comedy: Write Your Own Jokes, August 7

Learn the science of stand up, how to write a punchline, and not get punched because of a punchline.
