Youngstown, OH (February 18, 2022): The Youngstown Playhouse is excited to announce the cast for People Along the Way. Written by the Playhouse’s own Terry Shears and directed by Maria Petrella-Ackley, the production will run April 22 through May 1, 2022, in The Moyer Room as part of the Griffith-Adler Series. Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 10:00 AM.

About the Show
On a day like no other, an Average Joe is given the unique opportunity to revisit his past to answer the question, “Were the good old days really the way we remember them?” and to uncover how people changed his life – for better or worse. Writer Terry Shears is no stranger to the Youngstown Playhouse appearing in over 40 Playhouse productions since his first in 1988. Previous to People Along the Way, two other of Shears’ plays have been performed in the Moyer Room, Just Someone at a Party and Foul Play. “If you could revisit the people who shaped your early life, hear their unfiltered stories told from their point of view, would you do it? Joe has the opportunity one unusual evening, and 16 voices from his past show him what he is, who he is, and how he got that way. Five tremendous actors play all these roles, familiar to all audience members but by different names in each of their lives, making them recall and re-examine all of their ‘people along the way.’” says Shears.

Director Maria Petrella-Achley was last seen on the Youngstown Playhouse stage as Mattie Fae Aiken in August: Osage County. Involved with theater for over 50 years, she has acted upon many stages in Alabama, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Petrella-Achley said, “People Along the Way beautifully blends together the present and the past through many colorful and quirky characters. It is a story of generations, revelations, truth, and the choices we make that shape who we are and who we may become.”

Moyer Room productions are general admission seating.
