THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE IRISH AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY
Youngstown, OH (November 8, 2022): The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for the production of The Irish and How They Got That Way. Open auditions will be held on November 16th and 17th from 6-8 pm in the Moyer Room at The Youngstown Playhouse.
Written by Frank McCourt, The Irish and How They Got That Way is an irreverent history of the Irish through the tumultuous 20th and 21st centuries through the eyes of Pulitzer Prize winning author, Frank McCourt (Angela’s Ashes, ‘Tis, Teacher Man). McCourt’s razor sharp wit, coupled with his trademark bitter irony, and his boundless love for the Irish People are all underscored by glorious music extending all the way from the auld Irish folk ballads, through George M. Cohan’s patriotic love songs to America, World War II standards sung in movies, USOs and foxholes all over the world, and including the latest from contemporary Ireland’s U2.
Seeking: 2 males, 2 females, and a pianist. Come prepared with an Irish song to sing.
The creative team is led under the direction of John Cox. Rehearsals will begin in February 2023. Technical rehearsals will occur the week of March 20, and performances will take place March 24, 25, and 26 on the main stage at the Youngstown Playhouse.
The Youngstown Playhouse is committed to an inclusive casting process and encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to submit. Auditions will take place in The Moyer Room inside The Youngstown Playhouse at 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, Ohio. More information is available at youngstownplayhouse.org/get-involved.
