THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR SINGIN' IN THE RAIN!

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (June 3, 2025): The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for the first musical of the 101 Season: Singin’ in the Rain! Director Tyler Stouffer is seeking a large, energetic cast – ages 16 and up. There are plenty of different opportunities in this show for performers of different skills across the acting, dance, and singing disciplines. Performers attending the auditions should come prepared to sing 32 bars, or 1 minute, of a golden age musical theatre or jazz song with sheet music in your correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Singer auditions will be held Sunday, June 22nd, 2:00pm – 5:00pm at the Playhouse Downtown (220 W. Boardman St., Youngstown, OH 44503) and Monday, June 23rd, 6:00pm-9:00pm in the Moyer Room at the Youngstown Playhouse (600 Playhouse Lane Youngstown, OH 44511).

Callbacks will be held Thursday, June 26th starting at 5:00pm at the Playhouse Downtown. Rehearsals for the characters of Don, Cosmo, and Kathy will begin Monday, June 30th and Full Company rehearsals will start on Monday, July 21st. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Thursday, 6:00pm-9:00pm and Saturdays, 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Performers will not be called to all rehearsals. All roles are open. 

Singin’ in the Rain, known as the “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time.” is faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, from their original award-winning screenplay in this musical spectacular/ Each unforgettable scene, song, and dance is accounted for, including the show-stopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin’ in the Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.
