THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA

Youngstown, OH (September 5, 2023): The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Open auditions will be held on September 25th and 27th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on the Main Stage at The Youngstown Playhouse.

This enchanting musical adaptation follows the traditional script of the beloved fairy tale and is sure to capture the hearts of audiences of all ages. Cinderella, a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her evil stepmother and stepsisters, dreams of a better life. With the help of her mouse friends, a plain yellow pumpkin, and the magic of her fairy godmother, her dreams come true! Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella showcases some of the songwriting duo’s loveliest tunes, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.”

The director is seeking actors aged 18 years old and older; specific character breakdowns are available on the Youngstown Playhouse’s website. They are also seeking children 8 years old and older to play townspeople. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script and should prepare to sing 16 bars of a song of their choosing with a backing track. An accompanist will also be provided.

The creative team is led under the direction of Emma Wason and includes Tyler Stouffer (Music Director), Caitlyn N. Santiago (Stage Manager), Tom Hitmar (Scenic Designer), Leslie Brown (Lighting Designer), and Connie Cassidy (Costumer). Rehearsals will tentatively begin in early October. Technical rehearsals will occur the week of November 27 and performances will take place December 1 – 10.
