THE YOUNGSOTWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR AN INCLUSIVE YOUTH PRODUCTION OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Youngstown, OH (October 4, 2023): The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for the youth production Alice in Wonderland. Open auditions will be held on October 23 and 25 from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm at The Youngstown Playhouse.

After Alice tumbles down a mysterious rabbit hole, she finds herself in a strange land where everyone is whimsical and wacky. With the help of a skillful cat, an astute caterpillar, and a talking egg, Alice must find her way home and discover who she really is as she overcomes the obstacles of the Queen and her guards. This is a fun version of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale that reimagines the experience of Wonderland and introduces the cast and audience to American Sign Language in theatre.

The director is seeking actors ages 5-18 years old; specific character breakdowns are available on the Youngstown Playhouse’s website. Actors ages 5-8 will have auditions 4:30 – 4:50 pm to play games that test their skills, and actors 9 and older will have auditions 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm to read from the script.

The creative team is led under the direction of Eden Lesnansky and includes Isa Foltz as Stage Manager. Rehearsals will tentatively begin in early November. Technical rehearsals will occur the week of January 15 and performances will take place January 19 – 21 with a School Performance during the day on January 19.

The Youngstown Playhouse is committed to an inclusive casting process and encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to audition. Auditions will take place in The Front Room inside The Youngstown Playhouse at 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, Ohio. More information is available at youngstownplayhouse.org/audition.
