YOUNGSTOWN, OH (January 3, 2024) – The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for Shrek Jr. the musical.

Open auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 and Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 4:30 – 7:00pm.
in the Moyer Room at The Youngstown Playhouse. Call backs will take place, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from
5:00 – 7:00pm.

The famous ogre we all know and love is back in this hilarious stage performance based on the Oscar-winning
DreamWorks film and Broadway musical. Shrek Jr. features romance within a twisted fairy tale through fun
characters and music for the whole family. Shrek, the swamp ogre, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure
to rescue Princess Fiona to save his precious home from Lord Farquaad’s threats. Through a series of twists and
turns, Shrek, Donkey, and his other companions do everything they can to preserve Shrek’s swamp.

Please prepare 16 bars of your song choice that best showcases your vocal abilities. Do not audition with music
from Shrek the Musical. Please be prepared to read from the script and to learn a small dance routine at the time
of your audition.

In addition, auditions will be held at the same dates and times for 8-10 DANCERS and TUMBLERS with a high level
of dance abilities aged 10-18 years old. These dancers are not expected to be amazing singers.

The creative team is led under the direction of Shiloh Hart. Rehearsals will tentatively begin late January.
Performances will take place Friday, March 8th, Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th, 2024 on the main
stage at the Youngstown Playhouse. In addition to the public performances there will also be a school
performance.

The Youngstown Playhouse is committed to an inclusive casting process and encourages performers of all
