GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that will take place this year on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past 13 years, this idea has grown into a global movement, inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Over the years, Giving Tuesday has become one of the biggest giving days of the entire year. This year, when gifts are given during one of the two new power hours added on Tuesday, December 2nd, the gift will be doubled! Then, from December 3rd through the 8th, all gifts given will be matched 1:1. This means, for every $1.00 donated to an agency fund on a match day, the Joseph E. Scarves Youth Theatre Endowment Fund will receive an additional $1.00 from the Community Foundation.

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley will be Matching Gifts given to The Joseph Scarvell Youth Theatre Endowment Fund
The Joseph E. Scarvell Youth Theatre Endowment Fund was originally established to honor the legacy of the longest serving member of the Youngstown Playhouse. Joe Scarvell was an advocate for the Youngstown Playhouse and mentored generations of artists throughout his lifetime. The endowment supports the activities of The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre and educational programming. Your support of this fund directly impacts the educational development of the youth in and around Youngstown.
