THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES "NO PLACE LIKE HOME 2026/2027 SEASON OF SHOWS
YOUNGSTOWN, OH (May 8, 2026): The Youngstown Playhouse has proudly anounced their 2026/2027 seson of shows titled “No Place Like Home.” This series of titles explores themes of community, love, revenge, family, imagination, and more.
Kicking off the 26/27 season will be In the Heights with music, lyrics, and book by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamiltion, Disney’s Moana) and Quiara Alegría Hudes. In the Heights will be directed by Caitlyn N. Santiago and choreographed by Amber Ardolino (Broadway: A Beautiful Noise, Hamilton, Back to the Future the Musical, Funny Girl, Head Over Heels, and more) and will perform on the Main stage August 28 – September 6, 2026. This season’s youth play will be the hilarious farce, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon! (One-Act). This production will be directed by Shiloh Hart and will perform on the Main Stage October 2 – 4, 2026. Following Brothers Grimm, will be another comedy – Chicken & Biscuits by Douglas Lyons. Chicken & Biscuits will be directed by Dr. Lundeana Thomas and will perform at the new Playhouse Downtown at Ballet Western Reserve (220 W. Boardman St. Youngstown, OH) November 20 – 29, 2026. Also performing at The Playhouse Downtown, the Musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be directed by Connor Bezeredi and will be performed January 22 – 31, 2027. The highly anticipated 2027 Youth Musical will be Disney’s The Lion King Jr. directed by Sindy Hanna and performed on the Main Stage February 19 – 21, 2027. Frank Martin will direct the season’s only Moyer Room performance, The Father: A Tragic Farce, April 16 – 25. This psychological drama is written by Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton and was the basis of the 2020 film of the same name. Next up, audiences will travel over the rainbow with the classic Wizard of Oz based on the classic motion picture. Tyler Stouffer (YP’s Oklahoma! and Singin’ in the Rain) will direct this musicsl spectacle that will be performed on the Main stage May 21 – 30, 2027. Closing out this season will be the inaugural show of The Playhouse’s new YP Teen’s program. isa Foltz will direct She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition which will perform June 18 – 20, 2027 at The Playhouse Downtown.
In addition to the Main Season, The Youngstown PLayhouse continues to pride itself as a home for other incredible performing arts organizations in the valley. The Playhouse will house The Rust Belt Theatre Company’s 2026/2027 season including Forbidden Youngstown! (July 24-25, 2026), Godiva: a Burlesque Musical (September 11-20, 2026), the audience favorite How the Drag Queen Stole Christmas (December 4-20, 2026), and Dating Sucks! the Musical (February 5-14, 2027). The Playhouse also welcomes back The Millennial Theatre Company with their productions of Dear Evan Hansen (July 10-19, 2026) and Come From Away (November 6-15, 2026).
