ABOUT THE SHOW
With a Tony Award winning score by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Disney’s Moana), In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking to cast a vibrant, diverse ensemble ages 16 and up. We are especially seeking performers who can authentically represent the Latin and Hispanic communities at the heart of this story. Those auditioning should prepare 16-32 bars (30 seconds – 1 minute) of a pop or musical theatre song. Songs that celebrate your cultural heritage and/or bilingual songs would be wonderful, but are not required. An accompanist will be provided. Please either bring sheet music in the correct key or a backing/karaoke track with no voices. Please also prepare for a short cold reading from the script.
Those interested in auditioning for the roles of USNAVI, BENNY, & SONNY should also prepare a 30 second rap flow to a karaoke track in addition to the song requirement listed above. Choosing material from In the Heights is permitted but not required.
Dancers should plan to come to the dance call on July 2nd, prepared to learn a short choreographed dance. Singers may sign up for the dance call as well if they would like to be considered for a dancing role.
