THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR NICKY SILVER'S THE LYONS
YOUNGSTOWN, OH (January 12, 2026): The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for their highly anticipated production of Nicky Silver’s The Lyons. Thanks to the exciting partnership between the Playhouse and Ballet Western Reserve, this will be the Playhouse’s premiere production in their newly updated Downtown Space on the third floor of the historic Morley Building above the BWR studios (220 W. Boardman St. Youngstown, OH 44503). Director Connor Bezeredi is seeking five actors to join the company that will bring the Lyons family to life in this moving, thrilling, and poignant contemporary dramatic comedy. Performers attending the auditions should prepare a 1 minute, contemporary, comedic/seriocomic monologue and be prepared to read from the script. Selected sides will be provided/ Auditions will be held from 6:00pm-9:00pm on Sunday, January 25th, and Monday, January 26th in the Front Room of the Youngstown Playhouse (600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, OH 44511).

Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, February 1st at a to be determined time. Performances of The Lyons will take place on March 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 7:30pm and March 22 and 29 at 2:30pm in the Downtown Space located on the third floor above the Ballet Wester Reserve Studios (220 W. Boardman St. Youngstown, OH 44503).
In Nicky Silver’s The Lyons, the Lyons family must grapple with the impending death of its patriarch, Ben. When Ben Lyons’ wife, Rita, and their grown children gather to say goodbye, they learn that despite being a family, each of them is utterly isolated. Afraid of closeness and afraid of solitude, they are propelled into foreign territory – human connection.
