THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR YOUTH VALLEY PLAYERS SHOWCASE

Youngstown, OH: The Youngstown Playhouse has announced open auditions for “A Wickedly Good Showcase,” the 2022 Youth Valley Players Showcase, a free summer theatre program for local high school students.

Under the leadership of Director Tyler Moliterno and Education Coordinator Emelia Sherin, students will collaborate to create a full-length, original revue of scenes and songs. This season’s theme centers around the Broadway favorite, Wicked. Participation is free and open to incoming and outgoing high school students, ages 12 to 18.

Students interested in auditioning should prepare 32-bars that showcase their talent and personality, a cappella. Students will also be asked to do a cold reading from a script. Walk-ins will be accepted.

Auditions will take place Tuesday, April 26, and Thursday, April 28 from 4:00pm-7:00pm in the Adler Art Academy at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, located at 260 West Federal Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44503. Students are only required to attend one audition day and will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis, with each audition lasting no longer than 10 minutes.

Rehearsals will take place in the Adler Art Academy at the DeYor Performing Arts Center June 1 through July 8 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm.

Public performances will occur at The Youngstown Playhouse on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10 at 7:30pm on the Mainstage.
