THE YOUNGSTOWN PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR LOVE/SICK

Youngstown, OH (November 30, 2023): The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for John Cariani’s Love/Sick. Open auditions will be held on Saturday, December 9th from 12noon – 2:00pm and Monday, December 11th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the Moyer Room at The Youngstown Playhouse.

John Cariani’s Love/Sick is a collection of nine slightly twisted and hilarious short plays about the joys and pains of being in love. The play begins on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality and features imperfect lovers and dreamers full of unromantic, comedic banter. Each play has its own arc and tells the story of a couple at a crossroads in their relationship. Since each relationship is more advanced than the previous relationship, a larger arc emerges and the individual plays work together to create a satisfying whole play that chronicles the lifecycle of a typical relationship from meeting through divorce….and afterwards.

There are 18 roles available. The director is seeking 9 males and 9 females all over the age of 18. All ethnicities are encouraged to participate. The director welcomes non-binary and neurodivergent individuals to audition. The goal is to cast a diverse range of couples to better showcase a wider range of what “love” looks like.

The creative team is led under the direction of Rosalyn Blystone. There will be a first read through on December 18, 2023. Rehearsals will tentatively begin in early January. Technical rehearsals will occur the week of February 4, 2024 and performances will take place February 9, 10 , 11 and 16, 17, 18, 2024 in the Moyer Room at the Youngstown Playhouse.

The Youngstown Playhouse is committed to an inclusive casting process and encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to audition. Auditions will take place in The Moyer Room inside The Youngstown Playhouse at 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, Ohio. More information is available at youngstownplayhouse.org/audition.
